Is GOD real, who was JESUS, who wrote the BIBLE?

Frequently Asked FAITH Questions

Maybe you have some questions about what we believe - below are some of the  most common ones we get asked. Click each question to find an answer - or contact us at admin@wefchurch.org if you cannot find an answer to a question you may have.

If it’s illogical to think that a race car’s transmission would randomly come about, without a designer and a maker, how much more silly would it be to think that the human body, that the earth, that the universe, would randomly come about without a designer and a maker? …The complexity of life and the entire creation & heavens around us points to that fact that there is intelligent design.

Psalm 19:1-2 says this:

“The heavens declare the glory of God;  the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.”

There are some that think all of Christianity could be an elaborate hoax. The answer is simple. No, it could not be. Most of Jesus's first followers, the disciples, died brutal and terrible deaths. For what? Preaching the Gospel in their day! The fact that they; and people still are today, willing to die so they could tell everyone that Jesus is resurrected and alive signifies truth in what is said. Why would anyone willingly die for nothing, if it was all a hoax? They wouldn’t. Nobody would. However, someone would die for something they believed in and knew was truth, especially if God revealed Himself to them like He did …so much so that they had absolutely no doubt!  Experience and visible, hands on relationship, could only do that.

Jesus of Nazareth is the central figure of Christianity. As Christians, we believe He is the Son of God, who came to earth over 2,000 years ago to reveal God's love and to bring hope, forgiveness, and new life to all people.

Born into humble circumstances, Jesus lived a life of compassion, healing, teaching, and justice. His message centred on love — love for God and love for one another. He welcomed the outcast, challenged the powerful, and showed us what it means to live a life rooted in grace and truth.

Jesus was crucified — a Roman form of execution — but again as Christians, we believe that His death was not the end. On the third day, He rose from the dead, defeating sin and death. His resurrection is the cornerstone of our Christian faith and the promise of new life for all who follow Him.

Today, millions around the world know Jesus not just as a historical figure, but as a living presence — someone who transforms lives, brings peace, and offers hope that endures.

The Bible was written by many different people over a span of around 1,500 years. Its authors include kings, prophets, poets, fishermen, shepherds, and scholars—people from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Despite this diversity, the Bible tells one unified story about God’s relationship with humanity.

As Christians, we believe that the Bible is inspired by God. This means that while human authors physically wrote the texts, they were guided by the Holy Spirit in what they wrote (see 2 Timothy 3:16).

The Bible is made up of two main parts: the Old Testament, which contains writings sacred to the Jewish faith, and the New Testament, which focuses on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the early Christian Church.

The Bible is not just an ancient text — it is living and active, speaking to people across generations, cultures, and circumstances. It continues to inspire, challenge, and transform lives today.
